I graduated dental school, owned two dental practices, had three children, and according to the definition I set for myself, I had it “all”.
At the same time, I was tired, with a hair trigger temper, felt a constant tension between being a better mom and a better business owner. I could not tell you one thing that I did for fun… but, yet, I believed I had it “all”.
Life is interesting and the universe has an amazing sense of humor. At the age of 40, the perfectionist dentist that I was, started noticing that my hands were no longer steady. I had inherited a tremor in my hands and its onset prevented me from continuing to practice dentistry.
Who am I now?
My forced retirement from dentistry was a huge life shift. It was hard, I was lost, who was I when I was not a business owning dentist? While it did not feel like a gift at the time the tremor forced me to learn new ways to help people. My drive to excellence was not lost, I transitioned from licensed dentist to certified life coach.
I am grateful for this opportunity. When my mom was very sick with cancer, even on awful days, she would say to me “the sky is blue, the sun is out and it is a beautiful day.” I am here to honor her energy!
I lost both my parents in the same years I had my first two children and opened my first practice. Grief can be a powerful mirror to help you evaluate what truly matters in your life. The truth is “none of us are getting out of here alive”.
Burnout robs us of the ability to see the blue sky and the beautiful days. I am here to help my clients take the time to understand where they came from, clarify where they want to go, and learn enough about themselves to truly write their own stories.
